Official Rules

ELIGIBILITY The Charity Model Search (CMS) is open to any professional photographer who resides in the United States and Canada.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Photographers may NOT enter their own children or immediate relatives. All entries must be submitted by a professional photographer, families may NOT submit their own pictures.

The Charity Model Search (CMS) is open to children from birth to 18 years of age. All entrants must reside in the United States or Canada. Each child must be submitted individually, i.e. siblings may not be submitted in pictures together.

All work submitted must be original and previously unpublished, and you must have written releases on file in your studio for all entries. The release must be signed by a parent or custodial guardian. Each child MUST have a separate release on file with the photographer. Photographers should use their standard studio release form, and these should be kept on file with the photographer.

The image MUST have been taken on or after January 1, 2011 through the end of the submission deadline date of March 31, 2011. The photographer submitting the entry must have captured and created the original exposure. All digital manipulation must have been performed by the entering photographer. Only standard retouching is acceptable for entry into the CMS, please use the standard retouching that you would use for normal client sessions.

Entries may reflect the creativity of the photographer, however; judging is based solely on which entry best represent “The Cutest Kid”, and not on Photoshop techniques used. The decision of the CMS judges is final. Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep reserves the right to reject any entry deemed inappropriate, or not meeting the entry guidelines, in its sole discretion.

By entering you certify that you have obtained all necessary releases, and you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Allegra's Studio, the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS), its Partner Sponsors, and their employees, advisors, officers, and directors against any and all claims or liabilities arising out of, or relating to its consideration, display, publication and promotion, or other use of each photograph or other material submitted. All submitted images will be viewable on a public web site and voting gallery. Decisions of the CMS judges are final. As a condition of entry you license the image entered and recognized as winners, runners-up, finalists, or honorable mentions to NILMDTS for advertising, display, promotion, publication or other purposes in print, public displays, website, brochures or other uses to support NILMDTS and its allied associations as may be determined by NLMDTS. A photo credit shall be granted for any such use.

GENERAL RULES OF PARTICIPATION The CMS is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. By participating, entrants and their participating entities agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and waive any right to challenge the decision of the Sponsor regarding any claim of ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, whose decision shall be binding. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undeliverable or incomplete entries, whether due to system errors or failures, faulty transmissions or other telecommunications malfunctions, typographical, or otherwise. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Promotion or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the CMS by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Sponsor. If for any reason the CMS is not able to be conducted as planned, including, but not limited to, by reason of tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the CMS, then Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the CMS.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

Judging

Our Judges

Once again our judging panel will feature Cameron Bishopp, Editor of Professional Photographer Magazine and her team. Finalists are determined based on votes only. 10 Finalists from each of the 5 regions will move on to the final judging round.

Finalists are determined as follows:

* The top 5 Paid Votes in each region

* The top 5 Free Points in each region

Judging is based on the image that best represents the theme “The Cutest Kid”. The judges also look at the composition and posing (professional but not forced, and balanced within the frame), lighting, as well as eye contact with the viewer. They want to find the image that best shows the personality of the child. The judges will select the Grand Prize winning image from the 50 finalists, and will select 2nd and 3rd place finishers also. The decision of the judges is final.
