How did you meet?
Laura and I met in the library at UVA’s law school.  It took Kwabs several months to work up the courage to ask her out, but all’s well that ends well.

How did you choose your venue?
We actually originally chose another venue near Charlottesville.  A month after choosing it, they informed us that they were double-booked.  Everything happens for a reason and we were thrilled to find Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (LGBG).  It had everything we were looking for – an outdoor wedding and reception venue, in a beautiful, yet casual setting.

Tell us about your dress, shoes and other accessories!
Our wedding centered around Laura’s favorite colors, navy blue, green and burnt orange.  We were able to include each of the colors in various aspects of the wedding.  (The fact that we were wearing UVA colors is just a coincidence).  Laura found her dress at Tiffanys Bridal in Richmond with the help of her mother, father, and maid of honor.  Shopping for her dress was the easiest part of the whole planning experience and she fell in love with it the second she tried it on.

What detail did you like best about your wedding day?
Our favorite detail was the introduction of our wedding party following the ceremony.  We really enjoyed writing the introductions.  It gave us a great opportunity to share how much the friends and family in our wedding party mean to us.

Describe your decor and how you chose it!
Once we chose our wedding location, the rest was easy.  LGBG is a beautiful setting and we wanted to choose decor that complimented its natural beauty.  We went with a rustic vintage look.  Laura’s mom made all the decorations.

What was your favorite moment during your wedding day?
Our favorite moment was the quiet time we spent walking together in the garden after the ceremony.  As we walked through the garden (and Allegra took photos), we were able to quietly enjoy our first moments as husband and wife.

Tell us about your food and cake!
Meriweather Godsey catered our wedding.  They worked with us to build a menu that fit our goal of providing our guests with delicious food with some Southern flare.  Instead of cake, Laura and I thought that pies were more in tune with our rustic theme.  Additionally, we would both choose pie over cake any day.

Why did you choose Allegra’s Studio for your photography?
We started looking for a wedding photographer long before our wedding.  When Laura and I were visiting a potential wedding venue outside of Charlottesville, the venue coordinator let us look through photo albums of weddings that they had hosted.  Allegra had shot several of the weddings.  Laura and I immediately agreed that she had a great eye and that her pictures had that “wow” factor.

What’s next on your calendar as a couple?
Our work schedules kept us from jetting off on our honeymoon immediately after the wedding.  Instead, we have planned a honeymoon in Costa Rica in the coming months.  With our honeymoon still on the horizon, we feel like the excitement of our newly wed status will last for months.
